DIY Christmas Stocking Holder and Tags

Hey lovely people!

Anybody else finishing up their Christmas Decor just days away??

Sometimes the days just go by so fast but hopefully today’s post will help you tackle a super quick and easy DIY project for your Christmas stocking holders and tags.

DIY Stocking Holders

I don’t know about you but every time I go looking for stocking holders to put up on my mantle, I just find them to be way too expensive. I didn’t remember to grab some during the Christmas clearance last year so this year was my second year using my quick DIY fix.

Those silver boxes pictured came from the Dollar Tree and I thought it was a perfect idea to make my stocking holders look like presents! With two easy steps, my DIY stocking holders were complete.

How exactly?

First, I added some silver thumbtack hooks to the bottom front center of the box, similar to these:

In hindsight, little command hooks could have worked. The inside of the box now has a sharp object sticking through it but that was not much of a concern for me because no one would be going inside the box itself. These were also the first ones I found and it was important to me that the added hook look as much like an original part of the box as possible.

Secondly, I grabbed some river rocks from the Dollar Tree to add some weight to the box. Like so:

ALL DONE!!

Linked is an Instagram reel I made that shows you exactly how I did this in just a few minutes!

I was able to find some small wood rounds used for crafting from the craft store. Mine did not come pre-drilled so I grabbed a small drill bit and made a hole big enough for the ribbon to slip through. I found these on Amazon so if this is something you might want to try, give out as gifts, use as custom gift tags, or sell as an item in your craft shop, I love that they are pre-drilled!

After drilling the hole, I painted them using an acrylic paint color that matched my decor. While waiting for the paint to dry, I cut our names out using my Cricut. I needed two coats so after it was all dry, I used my transfer tape to apply the names and added matching ribbon to hang.

So what are your thoughts? Have you DIY’ed either of these before?

I hope your holiday season is filled with joy!

I read a quote that said “confidence is the art I read a quote that said “confidence is the art of having faith in yourself.” Surprisingly, I am finding confidence through art.

Today on the blog I share my 3C’s of crafting. Yup, confidence is one but you have to go give it a read to see the other two! The link is in my bio.

Quick Tuesday reminder: your feelings are valid. Quick Tuesday reminder: your feelings are valid.

Last week was rough for me. Y’all... the mixture of my compounded grief, needing to prep for a new semester, and my anxiety had me feeling like I had been hit by a train. Instead of feeling guilty about being sad, not being able to do my best work, and wanting to stay in bed, I just sat with it.

My feelings are valid.

Accept your bad days with your good. Don’t brush off the need to cry, scream, curse, or whatever it is you need to do, when you need to do it.

Be encouraged.

Do your dreams scare you?

I’m getting ready to do my goal planning session for 2021 and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified. From the lies my anxiety tells me to my own negative self-talk, chasing my dreams is scary af.

Regardless, my 2021 prayer will be that OUR dreams come true.
